Boston, MA—Project STEP has been approved for a $45,000 Grants for Arts Projects award to support Core Program students in 2021-2022. Project STEP is among 1,073 projects across America totaling nearly $25 million that were selected during this first round of fiscal year 2021 funding in the Grants for Arts Projects funding category.
“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support this project from Project STEP,” said Arts Endowment Acting Chairman Ann Eilers. “Project STEP is among the arts organizations across the country that have demonstrated creativity, excellence, and resilience during this very challenging year.”
This generous funding will help Project STEP to provide the students in the 2021-22 Core Program (grades 1-12) with instrumental and ensemble instruction at Boston’s Symphony Hall and the New England Conservatory, personalized support and guidance, exciting performance experiences, and scores of opportunities to interact with professional musicians and hear concerts in the Greater Boston area. Project STEP’s faculty is a talented group of conservatory-trained professionals and active performers, including members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, who are committed to increasing racial equity in classical music.
